At Eckhardt Dental Centre, our Penticton dentists use dental bridges to help fill gaps left by missing teeth and restore your smile.
What is a Bridge?
A natural-looking restoration, bridges can help close the gap of missing teeth in your mouth.
The bridge is affixed to the teeth on either side of the gap to fill the space and made up of one or more artificial teeth
Bridges can also prevent your other teeth from shifting positions to fill the space, which could lead to more serious dental issues including gum disease.
The Bridge Procedure
Typically, the bridge procedure requires two dental appointments. First, your dentist will begin by cleaning and re-contouring your teeth. Then they will take impressions that will be sent to a specialized dental lab to begin creating your new dental bridge.
Once ready, your dentist will place your new dental bridge by bonding it to your existing natural teeth, implants, or crowns that have been placed for this purpose.
Benefits of Dental Bridges
As each dental bridge is customized to fit a patient's individual mouth, it is designed to try and give your smile a smooth, natural look.
With the help of a dental bridge, the natural contour of your teeth can be restored, as well as the bite between upper and lower teeth.
Dental bridges can also improve your general oral health and your smile.
