At Eckhardt Dental Centre in Penticton, our dentists offer custom-fitted dental appliances to help improve and protect your oral health and overall wellbeing.
What is a Dental Appliance?
Maintaining good oral health can involve more than just brushing and flossing. For those of us who play sports, who clench or grind our teeth or who snore, dental appliances may help preserve and protect our oral structures, and our overall health.
Dental appliances offered at Eckhardt Dental Centre – such as sports guards, night guards and sleep apnea devices – can be used to help improve and protect the health of your oral cavity.
Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances
Sleep disorders can disrupt your sleep and may even negatively impact your overall health and wellbeing.
For patients who snore, their relaxed throat tissues cause the airway to restrict, creating the sound of snoring as oxygen is forced past.
For patients with sleep apnea, their throat tissues over-relax and obstruct the airway, forcing the brain to wake them up to breathe.
At Eckhardt Dental Centre, we provide custom-fitted oral appliances to move the lower jaw and tongue muscles to open the airway. This helps improve your flow of breath and can prevent you from waking up throughout the night.
Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards
We offer custom-made mouth guards that fit over your teeth and form a protective barrier that can help prevent damage to your teeth and oral structures.
Sports Guards
If you get hit in the mouth during a sports activity, a sports guard can provide a cushioning barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth to protect your smile.
Night Guards
If you regularly grind your teeth during sleep, a night guard can help protect your teeth from damage. If you clench your jaw, a night guard may also help prevent you from clenching and provide some pain relief.
